EDINBORO, Pa. — Edinboro lost to Slippery Rock 2-1 on Wednesday at Sox Harrison Stadium. The Fighting Scots withstood seven Rock attacking actions from 72:05 to 83:59 with the score level at 1-1, but the late defensive stretch was not enough.
Jada Cole scored the Fighting Scots' goal and led the team with four shots, putting three on frame.
Hailey Marchlewski recorded an assist for her point.
Brianna Garey finished with eight saves over 90 minutes in goal.
The Rock created the first wave of chances, earning a corner at 0:30, forcing Garey into saves at 3:49 and 7:14, and hitting the left woodwork at 9:38. The Scots broke through at 19:32 when Cole scored off a Marchlewski assist. Bailey McGee tied the match for the Rock at 29:01. The Scots earned a corner at 30:47, Garey added another save at 39:19 as the first half ended even at 1-1.
With the match tied 1-1, the Scots put the first shot of the second half on frame with Cole. The Rock answered with two off-target attempts during the next several minutes. Slippery Rock created pressure around the 64th minute, but Garey stopped shots from Jilly Deivert and Sophia Palermo. Later,
Elise Cacchione forced a save and a team save at the other end. Both sides traded late game chances, with Garey making additional saves during a Rock push. The Fighting Scots earned a late corner and put shots from
Sydney Patterson and
Grace Madison on goal in the 86th and 87th minutes. With a late rally, Bailey McGee scored the game winner for the Rock at 89:57.
