Box Score (New/Sortable Format) Traditional Box Score  |  Season Stats

CLARION, Pa. (Oct. 9, 2012) – The Edinboro women's soccer team fought to a 1-1 draw with Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference rival Clarion on Wednesday night in double overtime.

The Fighting Scots (8-3-1, 5-3-1 PSAC) held a large advantage in shots during the contest, firing off 23 shot attempts to just 14 from Clarion (2-7-4, 2-6-2). Eleven shots were off target and 11 more were turned away by Clarion goalie Laura Saussol, however.

Clarion got on the board first in the 24th minute when the Golden Eagles turned a corner kick into the first offense of the game as Casey Harsch tallied the goal for a 1-0 lead.

Edinboro tied things shortly before half time. PSAC leading goal-scorer Liz Debo added to her season total with her 10th goal of the year at the 44:33 mark off an assist from senior Amanda Bartell.

That would be the extent of the scoring, however. Edinboro and Clarion played a scoreless second half, sending the teams to overtime. The Scots had a shot attempt from Kelsey Knoll at 96:50 for the only shot on goal of the first overtime, but it was stopped by Saussol. Edinboro had the only shot on goal of the second overtime as well when Reilee DuPratt had a shot attempt at 106:38 that was saved by Saussol.

Meghan Kelly had five saves for Edinboro.

The Fighting Scots return to action on Saturday evening against Indiana (Pa.) at Sox Harrison Stadium. That match will kick off at 6:30 p.m. and is part of Cancer Awareness Day with donations being taken to benefit the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society.
