The Game Stories
- After opening the season with a 100-35 win over Penn State Greater Allegheny, Edinboro looks to make it two wins in a row against another Penn State campus -- Penn State Beaver. The Fighting Scots have not opened the season with back-to-back wins since 2009-10. Edinboro comes off of a 13-13 finish a year ago and returns six letterwinners, including three starters.
- Don't confuse Penn State Beaver with Penn State Greater Allegheny. Head coach Marcess Williams has led the Lions to four straight 20-win seasons. They were 22-6 a year ago and won their fourth straight Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference championship. They are off to a 2-1 start, opening the year with an 80-69 win over Washington &?Jefferson in the W&J?Tip Off Tournament before falling to Ohio Northern in the championship game, 78-60. On Tuesday the Lions defeated Geneva 88-81.
- Head coach Greg Walcavich is in his 24th season in charge of the Fighting Scots, showing a 413-241 record. Including stints at Birmingham Southern and West Virginia Wesleyan he is 567-304 overall as he starts his 31st season as a head coach.
- Edinboro concludes a three-game homestand to start the season on Tuesday, November 27, hosting Urbana before hitting the highway for the first time in 2012-13. The Fighting Scots open up PSAC action, playing at Mansfield on December 1 and at Bloomsburg on December 2.

Greg Walcavich, Edinboro -- is in his 24th season at the helm of the Fighting Scots and his 31st overall as a head coach. He has a 413-241 record at Edinboro and is 567-304 overall. Walcavich has also previously served as the head coach at Birmingham Southern and West Virginia Wesleyan.
Marcess Williams, Penn State Beaver -- is in his eighth year in charge of the Lions. His squad was 22-6 last year and he owns a 117-85 career record. He has led the Lions to four straight 20-win seasons and was named the PSUAC?Coach of the Year three times in that period. Williams played at LaRoche, concluding his career as the third-leading all-time scorer with 1,364 points and second all-time leading rebounder with 515 rebounds.

Edinboro 100, Penn State Greater Allegheny 35 --
Xavier Churnac scored 16 points to lead six players in double figures as the Fighting Scots opened the season in impressive fashion. The Scots trailed at one point 6-0, but grabbed a 43-21 halftime lead and at one point held the Lions with a point for seven minutes and without a basket for over ten minutes. Edinboro shot a sizzling 69.0 percent in the second half and 59.0 percent for the game while holding Penn State Greater Allegheny to 18.8 percent.
Bryan Theriot added 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Penn State Beaver 88, Geneva 81 -- the Lions held on for the win in their home opener thanks to the inside-outside tandem of Robert Agurs and Nick Miller. Agurs scored 29 points on the strength of an 11 of 19 showing at the free throw line, while Miller added 23 points. The Lions forced 28 turnovers to overcome a 45-30 rebounding deficit.

Most Edinboro games are broadcast on WFSE?FM 88.9, Edinboro student radio station. However, the Edinboro-Penn State Beaver game will not be broadcast. WFSE?FM?88.9 will carry most Fighting Scots basketball games in 2012-13. In addition, ETV, Edinboro's student-run television station, will stream many games live.
