The Game Stories
-Edinboro is off to its first 3-0 start since the 2008-09 squad opened the year with eight straight wins.  Following victories over Penn State Greater Allegheny (100-35) and Penn State Beaver (93-73), Edinboro faced its first true test and Tuesday and came away with an 88-85 win over Urbana.

-The Fighting Scots opened the season with three straight games at McComb Fieldhouse.  Now they hit the highways for the next three games, not returning home until the conclusion of final exams.  The Mansfield contest also marks the beginning of conference play, with a pair of PSAC crossover contests at Mansfield and Bloomsburg this weekend before seeing their first PSAC East foe on Saturday, December 8 when they travel to California(Pa.).  Edinboro actually has just one more non-conference game remaining, that against Thiel on December 30.  The other 22 games are against PSAC outfits.

-Head coach Greg Walcavich is in his 24th season in charge of the Fighting Scots, showing a 415-241 record.  Including stints at Birmingham Southern and West Virginia Wesleyan he is 569-304 overall as he is in his 31st season as a head coach.

-Edinboro was picked to finish fourth in the PSAC West.  The Eastern Division coaches predicted a sixth place finish for Mansfield, while Bloomsburg was third in the preseason poll.  Oddly enough, this marks the third straight time that the Fighting Scots have played at Mansfield and Bloomsburg.  They previously made the two-game swing in 2011-12 and 2009-10.

-Mansfield has a 1-1 record and will be playing its home opener at Decker Gymnasium.  The Mountaineers opened the year with a 100-64 win at Roberts Wesleyan before falling at Division I Buffalo 76-57.  They have not played since that game on November 24.

-Bloomsburg comes off an 81-67 loss to Lincoln on Wednesday, leaving the Huskies with a 2-2 record and snapping a two-game wining streak.  The Huskies are led by Dontahe Jordan, a 6'4” junior guard who is a two-time first team All-PSAC East selection.

The Edinboro-Mansfield Series
-Edinboro leads 19-14
The Fighting Scots captured last year's meeting by a 101-89 score, making it four straight wins over the Mountaineers.  Edinboro has won the last two contests played at Decker Gymnasium.

-John Sanow, Bloomsburg  -- is in his seventh year in charge of the Huskies. Sanow is a former standout at IUP who among his stops was an assistant at nearby Gannon.  Last season he produced one of the best men's basketball seasons at Bloomsburg in recent memory.  He led the Huskies to a 19-9 record, their best showing in 11 years and a share of the PSAC Eastern crown.  The Huskies also made a trip to the PSAC playoffs for the first time in 10 seasons.  For his efforts, Sanow was named the PSAC Eastern Division's Coach of the Year. He has a 69-96 record at Bloomsburg.

The Last Time Out
-Edinboro 88, Urbana 85 -- the Fighting Scots overcame a 16-2 run by Urbana, wiping out an 11-ppoint second half lead, to rally for the win on Tuesday night.  Jay Fletcher clinched the victory with a pair of free throws with 8.8 seconds remaining, and Urbana missed a three-pointer right before the final buzzer.  Bryan Theriot had his second straight 30-point game with 31 points, making 13 of 19 field goals and 5 of 6 free throws.  Isaiah Prince added 22 points, along with eight rebounds, seven assists and six steals.  Fletcher contributed 16 points and five assists.  Edinboro shot 55.6 percent from the floor for the game.

-Mansfield 71, Mercyhurst 63  -- the Blue Knights played the first of back-to-back games against northwest Pennsylvania foes on Sunday, rallying for a win over visiting Mercyhurst.  The  Lakers held an eight-point lead with six minutes to play before the Blue Knights mounted their comeback.  A 9-1 run tied the game at 59-59, and Urbana would score 12 of the games final 16 points to pull away.  Armond Battle led Urbana with 23 points, while Danny Goins added 21 on 7 of 12 shooting.

-Lincoln 81, Bloomsburg 67  -- the Huskies' rally fell short, as they pulled from 22 down to within ten in the late going.  Turnovers did in Bloomsburg, with 20 miscues accounting for 28 Lincoln points.  Lorenzo Christmas led Bloomsburg with 17 points, making five three-pointers. (Note:  Bloomsburg plays Slippery Rock on Saturday)
