Box Score (New/Sortable Format) MANSFIELD, Pa. – Edinboro head coach Greg Walcavich has coached 874 games in his long and illsutrious career. Saturday's contest at Mansfield would have left him pulling his hair out, if he wasn't already bald. The good news for Walcavich was that thanks to
Bryan Theriot's late game heroics, he picked up career win number 570 with a 66-65 win at Mansfield. The victory helped the Fighting Scots remain perfect on the season at 4-0, along with opening Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action with a win. Mansfield is now 1-2 and 0-1, respectively.
After Chuck Harper gave the Mountaineers a 65-64 lead with 31 seconds remaining on a three-pointer, the game looked over when
Isaiah Prince turned the ball over with just 12 seconds remaining. A Mansfield turnover gave the ball back to the Fighting Scots, and Theriot hit a jumper with four seconds left for the 66-65 lead. Following a Mansfield timeout, Theriot came up with a steal to clinch the win.
The Fighting Scots used a 15-2 run to take a 48-35 lead with 13:35 minutes remaining in the game, and looked ready to coast to the win in their first road game of the year.

But six straight turnovers allowed Mansfield to climb back into the game, and the Mountaineers regained the lead at 55-52 with 5:43 remaining on a Charles Becoats three.
The game remained close the rest of the way, as the lead changed hands six times and was tied three times over the last five minutes.
Edinboro survived a first half in which the Scots shot just 28 percent from the floor (8 of 29) and turned the ball over 10 times. In the first half alone the game was tied five times, including 29-29 at the half, and the lead changed hands five times.
Theriot led Edinboro with 22 points and 16 rebounds. It marked the third double-double of the season for the 6'9” junior.
Jay Fletcher had 12 points, six assists, and three steals. Prince tallied 11 points, five rebounds, and four steals.
Harper and Becoats led Mansfield with 17 points apiece. Joe Bell poured in 16 points and added 10 rebounds. Onyema Utti was the fourth Mansfield player to record double figures as he finished with 11 points.
Edinboro shot 40 percent from the floor in the game while Mansfield was able to finish shooting 41.1%. The Fighting Scots had the edge from the charity stripe, going 16 of22 compared to Mansfield's 13 of 21.
The rebounding numbers were nearly identical between the two teams as Edinboro pulled down 38 rebounds to Mansfield's 37. The Fighting Scots were guilty of 26 turnovers while Mansfield had 27. Fletcher was the culprit on eight of those turnovers, doubling his season total of four coming into the match.
The victory marked the fifth straight time the Fighting Scots have downed the Mountaineers, including three in a row at Decker Gymnasium.
Edinboro is back in action on Sunday afternoon, playing at Bloomsburg. Tipoff at Nelson Field House is set for 3 p.m.
