BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Four players scored in double figures as the Edinboro men's basketball team made it a clean sweep of its two-game PSAC crossover trip to the east with an 85-73 win at Bloomsburg on Sunday. The victory leaves the Fighting Scots with a perfect 5-0 ledger, including 2-0 in the PSAC. Bloomsburg falls to 2-4 and 0-2, respectively.
Jay Fletcher paced the Fighting Scots with 20 points, adding seven rebounds and five assists while making 4 of 7 three-pointers.
Johnathan Logan made 4 of 10 three-pointers to finish with 16 points, while
Isaiah Prince once again filled up the box score with 15 points, eight rebounds, six steals and four assists. Leading scorer
Bryan Theriot was saddled with foul trouble but still contributed 14 points on 5 of 7 shooting from the floor and 4 of from the line.
Edinboro never trailed in the game and led by 30 points at 62-32 with 17:11 remaining on a Logan three-pointer. The Huskies would battle back to within eight points on two occasions, the last at 70-62 with 6:46 remaining. The Fighting Scots answered with a Prince layup and a pair of free throws by Theriot to build the lead back up to 12 at 74-62. The margin never got closer than nine after that.
The Fighting Scots played an excellent first half, grabbing a 53-29 lead at intermission. In addition to shooting 51.2 percent, they held Bloomsburg to 31.4 percent shooting from the floor and nine turnovers. Edinboro committed just two turnovers in the first half.
A 21-2 run fueled the big getaway. Leading 16-15 with 13:47 remaining in the first half, the Scots proceeded to run off 13 straight points with Fletcher contributing five points and
Bobby Davis four off the bench. Davis, a 6'7” junior, turned in a strong outing with eight points and seven assists in 16 minutes.
Following a basket by Dontahe Jordan, Edinboro ran off the next eight points. Fletcher hit a pair of three's and Prince closed out the big run with a steal and dunk for a 37-17 lead with 6:38 left in the half.
A cold second half brought Edinboro down to 43.3 percent for the game (29 of 67), while Bloomsburg ended the day at 42.4 (28 of 66). The Fighting Scots were a near-perfect at the line, making 18 of 20. Edinboro held a 25-21 rebounding edge and committed 14 turnovers while forcing 16.
Jordan and Charles Haigler led Bloomsburg with 21 points apiece.
Edinboro returns to action on Saturday, December 8, opening action against the Western Division with a game at California(Pa.).
