EDINBORO, Pa. – The Edinboro women's soccer team opens its 2012 season by hosting Notre Dame (Ohio) at Sox Harrison Stadium on Thursday evening.
Edinboro enters the new year coming off its finest season in school history, posting a 15-6-0 overall record, reaching the PSAC semifinals and earning a berth in the NCAA Atlantic Regional for the first time. The 15 wins were a new school record.
The Fighting Scots return eight starters from that squad, including All-PSAC and NSCAA All-Atlantic Region selections in sophomore midfielder
Becca Costello and senior forward
Karisa Fernandez.
Notre Dame went 12-3-1 last season and plays as part of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Thursday's match will also be the season-opener for the Falcons.
Thursday is also Freshman Recognition Night. The University encourages all freshmen to attend with prizes given out during the game.
The two teams kick off the season with a 6:30 p.m. start.
