STORYLINE
Edinboro faces Kutztown on Saturday afternoon in a key PSAC contest. The Golden Bears stand second in the PSAC standings at 5-1 in conference play with 15 points while Edinboro sits fourth at 4-2 with 12 points. The Fighting Scots are looking to make it three straight wins after back-to-back 3-0 wins over Mercyhurst last Saturday and Roberts Wesleyan on Wednesday night. The Golden Bears were victorious in their last time out, a 3-1 win at Mansfield on Tuesday.

IN THE RANKINGS
Edinboro and Kutztown are both ranked in the latest NSCAA Atlantic Regional poll. Edinboro is ranked sixth in the region, just ahead of Kutztown which is ranked seventh.

FERNANDEZ CONTINUES CLIMB UP BORO RECORD BOOKS
Senior forward Karisa Fernandez scored twice in Wednesday's non-conference win over Roberts Wesleyan, a pair of goals early in the second half to break a scoreless tie and send the Scots to victory. Those goals moved Fernandez to fifth all-time in points for Edinboro with 72, passing the 71 posted by Rachel Dahlstrand from 2008-10. The Zelienople, Pa. native also now has 27 career goals, good for sixth all-time, three behind Dahlstrand's 30.

SCOTS ADD TO SHUTOUT TOTAL
With Edinboro's back-to-back shutouts in their past two wins, the Fighting Scots now have six on the year. Sophomores Meghan Kelly and Mary Murray have combined for the last two shutouts, with Murray starting last Saturday and Kelly playing the first 75 minutes on Wednesday.  The Scots now have a team goals against average of 0.67. Edinboro has allowed just six goals on the year – four coming in one match against Gannon.

MAKING HER SHOTS COUNT
Sophomore Liz Debo leads the PSAC with eight goals on the season and also paces the conference in points with 18. On the season, Debo has put 11 shots on goal and eight of them have found the back of the net.

FRESHMAN SENSATION
Freshman midfielder/forward Jansen Hartmann continues her impressive debut season for the Scots, registering two assists on Wednesday night. Hartmann now has a goal and four assists for six total points on the season, making her the third-leading scorer on the team behind Debo and Fernandez.

HOME FIRES BURNING
Edinboro is in the midst of a four-game homestand with home matches against Kutztown on Saturday and California (Pa.) on Wednesday left to go. The Fighting Scots are perfect on their Sox Harrison Stadium home turf this year, winning all four matches there, and have not allowed a goal to its opponents at home as of yet. Edinboro has won its home matches by a combined score of 11-0.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. KUTZTOWN
Edinboro holds a slim, 6-5-1 advantage all-time over the Golden Bears, but Kutztown has held the edge in the series recently. Kutztown has won the last two meetings between the schools, including a 2-0 win last year. The two teams last met on Sept. 20, 2011 at Kutztown when Crystal Zerbe scored the game's first goal in the 38th minute. Janine Valerio then added another goal before halftime to give Kutztown all the offense it would need. Casey Behrendt had the win in net with three saves. Meghan Kelly had four saves for Edinboro while Kutztown held the shots edge, 10-3 during the contest.

ABOUT KUTZTOWN
The Golden Bears entered 2012 with a mix of experience and youth following last season's 16-6 campaign on the way to reaching the PSAC Championship Game. The 16 wins a year ago were the most in school history and the 10th straight year the school has posted double digit wins. Kutztown finished the year ranked 15th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Top 25. Crystal Zerbe was a 2011 All-PSAC First Team pick and sophomore Sam Costello leads the team with five goals. Kutztown has been solid away from home, posting a 3-1 record on the road this year and has posted PSAC wins over Shippensburg, Lock Haven, Slippery Rock, Bloomsburg and Mansfield, only falling to East Stroudsburg.
