EDINBORO, Pa. (Sept. 5, 2012) – Edinboro used another shutout performance to record its third straight victory and open up PSAC play with a 3-0 win over Bloomsburg on Wednesday night at Sox Harrison Stadium.

The Fighting Scots (3-0, 1-0 PSAC) broke through for the first goal of the match in the 24th minute. Sophomore Allyson Overly took the pass from Liz Debo and fired a shot from 10 yards out on the right wing over the goalie for the 1-0 edge.

Debo found the net herself late in the first half. The sophomore headed in a goal from eight yards out off an Amanda Bartell assist for her fourth score of the early season. Debo stretched her consecutive match streak with a goal to three with the score.

A turning point of the match came in the waning seconds of the first stanza. The Huskies' Tara Huber advanced on a breakaway in the 45th minute and sailed a shot that was turned away by Scots' net minder Meghan Kelly. It would be the best opportunity of the night for Bloomsburg (1-2, 0-1).

Senior Kelsey Knoll added the exclamation point to the victory with her first goal of the year, driving home a shot from 10 yards out off an assist from freshman Jansen Hartmann.

Edinboro outshot the Huskies 22-12 and allowed just four shots in the second period. Kelly recorded her second shutout of the season to earn her third straight victory in net.

The Fighting Scots begin a four-game PSAC road swing on Saturday. Edinboro first takes on Shippensburg on Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
