SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. (Sept. 8, 2012) – Becca Costello and Jenna Madison each netted goals to help the Edinboro women's soccer team remain perfect on the year with a 2-0 victory over Shippensburg.

With the win, the Fighting Scots open at 4-0 for just the second time in school history, matching last year's start.

Edinboro (4-0, 2-0 PSAC) took control of the match early. Costello scored her first goal of the season in just the fifth minute for a 1-0 lead.

Madison then found the net in the 33rd minute for her first goal of the year to give Edinboro a two-goal advantage before intermission.

That would be enough as the Edinboro defense held strong for its third shutout of the season. The Fighting Scots held a narrow edge in shots, 14-13, and kept the pressure on with seven shots during the second half.

Meghan Kelly tallied six saves to earn the shutout victory in net for the Boro. Shelbie Rackley made six saves for Shippensburg (1-2-1, 0-2).

The Fighting Scots will attempt to establish a new record for the best start to a season when they travel to Millersville for another PSAC battle on Friday.
