Hartmann Scores Lone Goal, Edinboro Defeats IUP 1-0

Box Score (New/Sortable Format) INDIANA, Pa. (October 12, 2013) - In their sixth consecutive win, the Edinboro women's soccer team defeated Indiana (Pa.) 1-0 on Saturday, October 12. The win boosts the Fighting Scots overall record to 9-3-0 overall, 7-3-0 in the PSAC while the Crimson Hawks fall to 5-6-1 on the year and 4-6-1 in conference.

The Fighting Scots controlled the game for the most part, as IUP was unable to even put a shot on goal. Jansen Hartmann scored her second goal of the season of the season in the 50th minute to give Edinboro the 1-0 victory. Alexis Becker passed the ball forward to Hartmann to create a breakaway opportunity leading to the goal. Meghan Kelly recorded her fifth shutout of the season in the victory.

Edinboro returns to action on October 16 when they head to Gannon. The Lady Knights are near the top of the conference in points and have yet to lose a home match this season.

Game Notes:
·         Jansen Hartmann's goal today pushes her career point total to 23. She is six points shy of entering the top 20 all-time for career points.
·         Alexis Becker recorded her second career assist and point.
·         Meghan Kelly's five shutouts on the season are tied for second all-time in a single season. She is only one away from the record.
·         Kelly also has nine wins on the season, which is good for third most in a single season. She is three wins away from the record that she set last season.
·         The Fighting Scots six-game winning streak is the second longest in the program since 2007.
