EDINBORO, Pa. (Oct. 25, 2013) – The Edinboro women's soccer team will hold its annual Cancer Awareness Day and also Senior Day on Saturday, October 26 when Mansfield visits Sox Harrison Stadium for a 5 p.m. match. The Fighting Scots are looking to clinch a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference playoff berth with three contests remaining. They own a 10-4-1 overall record and are 8-4-1 in the PSAC. Mansfield comes in with a 4-9-1 ledger and is 3-9-1 in league play.
The Fighting Scots will wear special pink jerseys on Saturday, and collections will be taken for the Susan G. Komen Foundation. In addition, the team's lone senior,
Mary Murray, will be recognized prior to the game. Murray is a goalkeeper from Cambridge Springs, PA.
Edinboro saw its eight-match unbeaten streak snapped on Tuesday with a 2-1 loss at Kutztown. The Fighting Scots are tied for third in the latest NSCAA Division II Atlantic Region rankings, along with seventh in the initial NCAA Atlantic Region poll.
Liz Debo remains the leading scorer. The junior forward has nine goals and an assist for 19 points. Freshman forward
Alex Brown adds seven goals, with
Becca Costello, a junior midfielder, showing five goals and two assists for 12 points.
Meghan Kelly will be in goal. The junior has a 1.08 goals against average.
Mansfield comes in with three straight losses, although those defeats have to Kutztown, California(pa.) and Slippery Rock, the top three teams in the PSAC standings. Freshman midfielder Danielle Lentz paces the Mountaineers with four goals. Alana Krieger, a junior, will likely start in goal. She owns a 1.96 goals against average.
Edinboro owns a 5-0-2 record in the all-time series with Mansfield.
