Box Score (New/Sortable Format) EDINBORO, Pa (October 8, 2013) – The Fighting Scots extended their winning streak to five in a row against Clarion on Tuesday night, defeating the Bald Eagles 3-1. The win improves Edinboro to 8-3-0 overall and 6-3-0 in the PSAC while Clarion falls to 3-5-3 overall and in conference.
After a quiet first 30 minutes of action,
Becca Costello was finally able to connect with her fourth goal of the season to give the Fighting Scots a 1-0 lead. Shortly after,
Alex Brown scored her team-high seventh goal of the season on a dart from 20 yards out. The Fighting Scots applied consistent pressure throughout the final 15 minutes of the half and ended up outshooting the Golden Eagles 12-1 in the first half.
The second half went smoothly for the Fighting Scots, as they were able to tack on an insurance goal in the 82
nd minute, coming from
Liz Debo. The goal was Debo's seventh of the season, as her and Brown continue to pace the team.
Jansen Hartmann delivered the pass from the right corner and Debo one-timed it into the net. Clarion was able to erase the shutout in the final minute when Casey Harsch scored her third of the season.
Edinboro returns to play on Saturday, October 12, when they travel to Indiana (Pa.). The game is schedulded to get underway at 1:00 p.m..
