Jay Fletcher sank two free throws with 8.8 seconds left to clinch an 88-85 win for Edinboro over visiting Urbana at McComb Fieldhouse.
Bryan Theriot paced the Fighting Scots with 31 points and eight rebounds on the night. The junior center shot 13-19 from the field and made 5-6 free throws.
Isaiah Prince had 22 points, while Fletcher added 16 markers for the contest. Armond Battle led the Blue Knights with 34 points, shooting 8-17 from the field and connecting on 16 of 18 free throw attempts.

Pat Cleary (Edinboro '99) is in his first year as head coach of the Fighting Scots, taking over for his predecessor Greg Walcavich, who spent 24 years at the helm of the Edinboro program. Cleary previously worked as an assistant under Walcavich for 16 years, first as a student aide before becoming a full-time assistant coach. He is credited for recruiting many of Edinboro's top contributors in recent years. The first-year head coach takes over a team that finished 18-10 a year ago and reached the PSAC Tournament Semifinals. Cleary has led the Fighting Scots to a 2-0 record so far this season with wins over Thiel and Penn State Greater Allegheny.

Jeff Porter (Geneva '01) is in his sixth year in charge of the Urbana men's basketball program. Porter took the reins of the program in 2008, while it was in the process of transitioning to NCAA Division II from NAIA. He has compiled a 48-90 record in his five plus seasons at Urbana, including a 14-13 mark in 2009-10. He spent three seasons as the head coach at Mercyhurst North East prior to assuming his current role at Urbana. He posted a 58-30 record in three years at the northwest Pennsylvania school. Porter also spent time as an assistant coach at both Mercyhurst North East and Lebanon Valley College.

Bryan Theriot (C, 6-9, Sr.) – earned first team All-PSAC West accolades a year ago after averaging 18.1 ppg. and 8.9 rpg. Was named a preseason All-PSAC choice. Shot 55.4 percent from the floor and 87.2 percent at the line. Averaging 12.0 ppg. and 7.0 rpg through two games this season. Had double-double consisting of 18 points and 10 rebounds in Edinboro's 98-65 win over Penn State Greater Allegheny on Friday.
Johnathan Logan (F, 6-8, Sr.) – second-year player for the Scots that is one of the top 3-point threats in the PSAC. Made 71 of 199 shots from behind the arc last season, ranking second in the PSAC in 3-point shots made per game. Averaged 8.0 ppg. and 5.0 rpg. in 2012-13. Had 18 points and eight rebounds in Edinboro's 98-65 victory over Penn State Greater Allegheny on Friday afternoon.
Urbana
Danny Goins (G, 6-0, Sr.) – is Urbana's leading scorer at 19.5 ppg. this season. Had 22 points in the Blue Knights' overtime loss at Ohio Dominican last Tuesday. Named the 2012-13 G-MAC Male Scholar Athlete of the Year. Earned Second Team All-G-MAC honors last season, averaging 15.3 ppg. Scored 14 points and five rebounds against the Fighting Scots last season
Casey Baker (F, 6-5, Jr.) – is averaging 12.5 ppg. and 8.5 rpg for the Blue Knights. Recorded a double-double of 23 points and 11 boards in Urbana's overtime loss at Ohio Dominican last Tuesday.
THE GAME STORIES
-The Fighting Scots started the 2013-14 campaign on a strong note, handily defeating Thiel and Penn State Greater Allegheny in their first two contests. First-year head coach

-Urbana comes into Monday's game with an 0-2 record on the season. The Blue Knights fell to Division I Chicago State in their season opener, before dropping a 93-91 overtime decision to Ohio Dominican last Tuesday. Urbana is led by senior guard Danny Goins and junior forward Casey Baker. Goins is the Blue Knights' leading scorer at 19.5 points per game. Baker, a Conneautville product, comes in averaging 12.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.

Bryan Theriot has had a great deal of success against Urbana in past seasons. The center posted 31 points on 13-19 shooting and eight rebounds in the Fighting Scots' 88-85 win last season. Theriot had a career-high 33 points and 14 rebounds in Edinboro's thrilling 114-111 double overtime loss to the Blue Knights in 2011. Theriot would match that career-high in 2012 with a 33-point effort in a win over Penn State Beaver.
-The Fighting Scots will look to continue their success in non-conference games in the contest with Urbana. Edinboro is 14-4 against non-PSAC opponents since the beginning of the 2010-11 season. The Scots are 3-1 against the Blue Knights in this time span. The two teams have split victories during the past two seasons, with Urbana winning in 2011 and Edinboro coming out on top in 2012. The Fighting Scots hope to improve to 3-0 for the second straight season.
