Theriot Surpasses 1,000 Career Points as Edinboro Drops Heartbreaker to Seton Hill, 95-93

(December 4, 2013) – Kameron Taylor's jumper as time expired lifted visiting Seton Hill to a 95-93 victory over Edinboro Wednesday night at McComb Fieldhouse. Bryan Theriot became the 26th Fighting Scot to score 1,000 career points in the loss. The senior finished as one of five Edinboro players in double-figures with 20 points and nine rebounds. Henri Wade-Chatman poured in a career-high 28 markers to lead all scorers. The Fighting Scots fall to 4-2 on the season and 0-2 in the PSAC West. The Griffins improve to 5-2 with the win and 2-1 in the conference.

Trailing Seton Hill 93-90, Johnathan Logan nailed a deep three-pointer with 16 seconds remaining to knot the contest at 93 apiece. On the next possession, Taylor connected on a fadeaway jumper from the right elbow at the buzzer to give the Griffins their second PSAC West victory of the season.

Tonight's matchup marked the first PSAC contest between the two schools, with Seton Hill joining the conference this season.

The Griffins led by as many as 15 in the first half, when Taylor found Malachi Leonard for a layup with 11:40 remaining in the opening period. Edinboro responded with a 13-2 run, bolstered by dunks from Johnathan Logan and Wade-Chatman, and back-to-back buckets by Xavier Churnac. This cut the Seton Hill lead to 32-28.

Jonny Marsh hit a three-pointer to give the Fighting Scots their first lead of the night, 45-42 with 1:26 remaining in the opening period. Edinboro held a slim 49-47 lead heading into halftime.

 The Fighting Scots came out strong in the second half, extending their advantage to 11 points, 66-55 at the 16:11 mark surged three-pointers from Logan, Marsh, and Wade-Chatman.  

Seton Hill would not go away, using a 20-8 run of their own to claim their first lead of the second half, 75-74 with 9:01 to play. The Griffins widened the advantage to 88-81 after a Noah Davis three-pointer with four minutes remaining.  

This back-and-forth contest saw its eighth tie of the night when Marsh and Wade-Chatman combined for seven consecutive points to make the score 88-88.
After Logan's triple to knot the game at 93, Taylor's jumper on the next possession sealed the win for the Griffins.

Following Wade-Chatman and Theriot, Marsh and Churnac each added 15 points on the night. Logan also chipped in 13 markers.

Max Kenyi paced Seton Hill with 20 points in the contest. Taylor and Nate Perry had 17 points each. Taylor posted a team-high six rebounds as well. The Griffins shot 56.5 percent from the floor for the game.

The Fighting Scots travel to California (Pa.) this Saturday, Dec. 7th. Tip-off against the Vulcans is set for 5:30 p.m.
