In what is going to be a busy day at Sox Harrison Stadium on Saturday, September 14, the Edinboro women's soccer team is hosting the Lake Erie Storm at 6 p.m. The soccer match will be occuring after the Edinboro football team hosts Bloomsburg.
The Fighting Scots are currently on a two-game winning streak and are in the midst of a four-game home stand. After a loss to open the season at Millersville (2-1), they have rebounded with victories against Shippensburg (3-0) and Daemen (1-0).
Lake Erie has been trending in the opposite direction. After picking up a 2-1 victory to open the season at Davis & Elkins, the Storm dropped each of their last two matches. A 4-1 loss to Charleston (W. Va.) and a 2-0 loss to fellow PSAC member Mercyhurst have the Storm currently at 1-2. They are in the midst of a six-game road trip to open the season which is giving their young roster (ten freshman including goalkeeper Samantha Wiles) plenty of early experience.
With
Becca Costello's game-winning goal on Wednesday, she became the fifth different Fighting Scot to hit the net this season.
Meghan Kelly continues to lockdown the Edinboro goal as well as she has had consecutive shutouts.
These two schools have met on three previous occasions, with Edinboro winning each time. They played last season and the Fighting Scots won 5-1 behind a pair of
Liz Debo goals.
