The Edinboro women's soccer team travels to Lock Haven on Saturday, September 28 for a PSAC match between two teams coming off victories. The Fighting Scots stand at 4-3-0 overall and 2-3-0 in the PSAC while Lock Haven is 2-3-1 overall and in conference.
This past Tuesday, September 24, Edinboro defeated Bloomsburg 4-2. After a strong first half that saw the Fighting Scots take a 3-0 lead, the Huskies came back to score two goals in the second half to narrow the lead to 3-2. However,
Liz Debo scored her second goal of the match in the 76
th minute to seal the victory.
Edinboro comes into the game second in the conference in goals with 14 on the season. Debo is coming off a two goal game that has her top five in three statistical categories in the conference. She ranks first in shots, tied for third in points, and tied for third in goals.
Becca Costello contributed two assists in the match, which pushes her point total to six on the year, tied for second on the team.
Meghan Kelly has started each game of the season for Edinboro in net and has picked up four shutouts. She ranks third in Edinboro history in shutouts (13) and wins (23). She is now only two behind Kate Stukbauer for first all-time in wins.
Lock Haven is coming off a huge victory, upsetting No. 6 East Stroudsburg 1-0 on Saturday, September 21. The lone goal in the match came from Jamie Hunter, who leads the Bald Eagles with two goals and four points on the year. Lock Haven has been stout defensively all year, allowing only six goals in six games. Dana Wozniak has been in net for every minute for the Bald Eagles and ranks fifth in the PSAC in save percentage (85 percent). Wozniak faced the Fighting Scots last year and allowed two goals on nine shots in a 2-0 loss.
Lock Haven leads the all-time series 13-10-0, but Edinboro has closed the gap with wins in each of the last four matches. The Fighting Scots have outscored Lock Haven 9-3 over those four games.
