MEADVILLE, Pa – Nearly able to walk away with a championship in their opening meet of the season, the Edinboro women's tennis team lost to Allegheny College in the championship of the Nancy J. Heath Invitational, 6-3.

The Fighting Scots defeated Clarion in their opening match, 7-2, to advance to the championship. Edinboro was able to take five of the six single matches against Clarion.

Edinboro wouldn't find similar success against Allegheny, however. Oranza Carrillo and Lydia Browne were able to repeat with victories at one and six singles, respectively, to each start the season 2-0, but none of the other singles players won.

Carrillo and Raquel Holiday were partnered for the number one doubles position, and won both of their matches today, 8-3 and 8-5.
Next weekend, the women tennis teams will participate in the PSAC Championships in Bloomsburg, Pa.
