MADISON, Wis. (Oct. 17, 2014) – The Edinboro women's cross country team competed in the Wisconsin Adidas Invitational on Friday. Renowned as possibly the top Division I meet in the country, the Fighting Scots competed in the women's open race on the Thomas Zimmer Cross Country Course. No team scores were kept, but several Fighting Scots finished among the top runners in the field of 111 runners, which was almost entirely Division I competition.
Kasey Jones led the Fighting Scots, as the junior took 34th place with a time of 21:55 over the 6K course. Senior
Emily Ahrens was next, coming in 60th (22:21).
Vanessa Fraser of Stanford captured first place with a time of 20:56. New Mexico's Nicole Roberts was second, with Sara Stassen of Michigan State third. Laura Batterink was fourth and Heleene Tambet of New Mexico placed fifth.
Anna Hosl was the third Edinboro runner to cross the finish line. She posted a time of 22:34 while coming in 71st.
Megan Maffett was 84th (23:04), with
Emma Sullivan 98th (23:28). Kaitlyn Daubert wrapped up the Boro runners, placing 111th (26:30).
Edinboro will return to action on Saturday, November 8, taking part in the PSAC Championships at Mansfield University.
