Edinboro Looks to Stay Hot at Bloomsburg

EDINBORO, Pa. (October 7, 2014) - The Edinboro women's soccer team will look to continue its five-game winning streak when it travels to Bloomsburg on Wednesday afternoon. The game is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. and is the conclusion of a five-game road trip for the Fighting Scots. The Scots enter the match at 5-4-1 overall and in the PSAC while the Huskies are 4-5-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the PSAC.

Edinboro has outscored opposing teams 11-2 during its five-game winning streak. The Fighting Scots most recent victory came against No. 24 Indiana (Pa.). The Crimson Hawks struck early off the foot of Victoria Crawford in the third minute. Edinboro responded shortly after with a goal from freshman Ashley Mutkus to tie things up in the 13th minute. Jansen Hartmann notched the game-winner in the 60th minute to secure the 2-1 upset.

Hartmann is on a streak of her own as she has scored in three straight games and registered a point in four straight. The junior forward/midfielder now leads the Scots in goals (three), assists (two), and points (eight).

Meghan Kelly has been rock solid in goal once again this season for the Fighting Scots. The senior goalkeeper has a 0.98 goals against average and three shutouts this year. Her 20 career shutouts, 36 wins, and 5646 minutes are all school records.

Brooke Mohney and Ashley Sanchez pace the way for Bloomsburg with four points apiece. Mohney has scored two goals while Sanchez has one goal and two assists.
Megan Deak has started all 10 games in goal as a freshman for the Huskies. Her 51 saves are fifth-best in the PSAC as she sports an 83.6 save percentage and 1.08 goals against average with three shutouts this season.

Bloomsburg holds an 8-6-2 advantage in the series all-time but Edinboro has won the last three in a row. When these two teams met last season, the Fighting Scots jumped out to a 3-0 advantage by halftime. The Huskies would not go away quietly, scoring two goals by the 72nd minute of the second half. Liz Debo put in the insurance goal for her second goal of the game in the 76th minute. That 4-2 victory sparked an eight-game stretch for the Scots in which they did not lose a match (7-0-1).

Edinboro will finally return to home after not playing at home since a 2-1 victory against Seton Hill on September 24. Lock Haven comes into Sox Harrison Stadium for a match on Saturday, October 11 at 1:00 p.m.
