Fighting Scots Improve to 3-1 with 103-99 Win at Allegheny

MEADVILLE, Pa. (November 14, 2014) – The Edinboro men's swimming team won in the final event Friday night at Allegheny to improve to 3-1. The Fighting Scots defeated the Gators 103-99 and dropped the Allegheny to 0-4 this season.

Edinboro trailed 95-92 going into the 400 yard freestyle relay. The quartet of Justin Ransel, Joshua Beabout, Tony Romanini, and Micah Cattell finished in 3:14.62, nearly two and a half seconds ahead of the Gators. The decisive final event gave the Scots 11 points to take the 103-99 victory.

Cattell and Ransel also paired with Nicholas Wilkinson and Luke Frederick to win the 200 yard medley relay (1:41.55).

Beabout and Romanini would each add on more victories as well. Beabout won the 1000 yard freestyle (10:16.72) and 500 yard freestyle (4:53.80) while Romanini captured the 200 yard backstroke (2:04.67) crown.

The Fighting Scot will now have nearly a month off before competing in the Wooster Invitational. That is scheduled to take place from December 4 to December 6 in Wooster, Ohio.
