The Game Stories
• The Fighting Scots begin PSAC play earlier than usual this season with a matchup against Seton Hill in just Edinboro's second game of the 2014-15 season. The Griffins have not yet played a game and will open the campaign by hosting the Fighting Scots in the conference contest Wednesday. Edinboro will play a pair of PSAC games in a row against Seton Hill and then California (Pa.) on Saturday, before facing two straight non-conference opponents in Penn State Du Bois on November 25 and Wheeling Jesuit on November 30. • Edinboro officially opened the 2014-15 campaign with a 102-62 victory over non-conference opponent Penn State Greater Allegheny on Monday night at McComb Fieldhouse. Henri Wade-Chatman led all scorers with 20 points in just 21 minutes, while Sheldon Brogon and Nate Stepney added 17 and 13 markers, respectively in each of their Fighting Scot debuts. All 13 players scored for Edinboro in the game. With a game-high 11 rebounds, Edinboro newcomer Casey Baker eclipsed 500 rebounds for his career. The senior transfer from Urbana now has 502 career boards. The Fighting Scots reached 100 points for the first time since topping Penn State New Kensington 101-65 last season.
• The Fighting Scots will play the role of underdog this season, as Edinboro was picked to once again finish eighth in the PSAC West according to the 2014-15 PSAC Preseason Coaches' Poll released on October 30. Seton Hill was picked to finish sixth in the division.
• Edinboro pulled off a big-time upset victory over Division I Miami (Ohio) by a score of 71-60 in an exhibition contest on Saturday, November 8 at Millett Hall in Oxford, Ohio. Will Marrow scored a game-high 26 points, connecting on 9 of 10 field goals, including four of four 3-pointers in the win. The Fighting Scots overcame a 10-point halftime deficit, using a 36-12 second-half run en route to the triumph. Junior guard Henri Wade-Chatman added 20 markers, while redshirt freshman Jaymon Mason tallied 12 points for Edinboro.
• The Fighting Scots return Wade-Chatman this season, who ranked second on the team in scoring in 2013-14, hitting at 13.8 points per game. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native averaged 3.4 assists per contest, good for seventh in the conference. He finished seventh in the PSAC with a 1.9 assist-to-turnover ratio.
• Edinboro also returns forward Sam Sealy-James and guards Will Marrow and Jeremy Lynch. Sealy-James, a St. John's transfer, ranked ninth in the conference with 1.2 blocks per game in his first season with Edinboro in 2013-14. Marrow averaged 3.9 points per game as a redshirt sophomore last season, while Lynch appeared in five contests and made 2 of 6 field goal attempts.
• Edinboro will feature many newcomers in 2014-15, including senior Urbana transfer Casey Baker. A local product, the former Conneaut Valley standout played three seasons for the Blue Knights, as the 6'4'' forward finished second on the team in scoring at 11.7 points per night and ranking third in the Mountain East Conference in rebounding at 9.0 boards per game last season. Mason, who had a prolific career at nearby General McLane High School and is the son of Edinboro all-time leading scorer Tyrone Mason, will make his Fighting Scot debut this season after redshirting in 2013-14.
• The Fighting Scots need to replace a very valuable frontcourt piece in two-time All-PSAC First Team selection Bryan Theriot. The 6'9'' center capped an outstanding career with the Fighting Scots in 2013-14, pacing Edinboro at 17.5 points and 8.1 rebounds per game, finishing 10th on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,362 career points and 14th in career rebounds with 677 boards.
