The Game Stories

• Edinboro comes into Sunday's contest with a 3-1 overall ledger following a record-setting 144-61 victory over visitng Penn State DuBois in a non-conference game on Tuesday at McComb Fieldhouse. The Fighting Scots' 144 points set a new school record for Edinboro, breaking the previous record of 133 markers set in a 133-90 victory over Lock Haven in 1967-68. The 83-point margin of victory snapped the previous Edinboro record of a 73-point margin, set in a 116-57 triumph over Point Park during the 1997-98 campaign. The Fighting Scots also connected on a school-record 60 field goals (60-94), breaking the previous mark of 54 field goals made. This feat was accomplished twice in both 1967-68 against Lock Haven and again in 1973-74 against Alliance. All 13 players scored for Edinboro and nine Fighting Scots scored in double-figures led by Quinn Lee Yaw's 19 points.

Jaymon Mason was named the PSAC West Freshman of the Week for the week ending November 23. The 6'2'' redshirt freshman averaged 13.3 points and 3.0 rebounds in three games last week, largely in part to a career-high 23-point performance against California (Pa.). The Edinboro native tallied 12 markers in the Fighting Scots' win over Seton Hill Wednesday, sinking three of six field goals including two of two three-point attempts. The 6'2'' guard was a perfect four-for-four from the free throw line against the Griffins, as well. He added five points, four rebounds and three assists in Edinboro's season-opening triumph over Penn State Greater Allegheny. Mason ranks second on the team in scoring at 13.3 points per contest.

Henri Wade-Chatman currently paces the conference in scoring at 20.0 points per game, largely in part due to his career-high 30-point performance in the Fighting Scots' 89-64 win over Seton Hill. The 6'2'' junior also tallied 20 points in just 21 minutes against Penn State Greater Allegheny. Wade-Chatman leads the conference with 4.0 three-point field goals per game, ranks seventh in the PSAC with a .516 three-point shooting percentage and is tenth in the conference with a .509 field goal percentage. Nate Stepney sits second in the league with a .600 three-point field goal percentage, while Jaymon Mason is eighth in the PSAC with a .500 three-point shooting percentage. Casey Baker and Tommy Sclaes are tied for ninth in the PSAC in rebouding at 7.3 boards per contest. Baker recently surpassed 500 career rebounds in the Fighting Scots' 102-62 win over Penn State Greater Allegheny. The senior transfer from Urbana now has 520 career boards.

• Following Sunday's matchup with Wheeling Jesuit, the Fighting Scots face four straight PSAC opponents before their final non-conference game of the season against Thiel on December 30. Head coach Pat Cleary is 6-0 against against non-PSAC foes in his first two seasons with Edinboro.

• The Fighting Scots will play the role of underdog this season, as Edinboro was picked to once again finish eighth in the PSAC West according to the 2014-15 PSAC Preseason Coaches' Poll released on October 30. California (Pa.), who earned a PSAC Championship Tournament berth last season, was picked to finish seventh in the division.

• Edinboro pulled off a big-time upset victory over Division I Miami (Ohio) by a score of 71-60 in an exhibition contest on Saturday, November 8 at Millett Hall in Oxford, Ohio. Will Marrow scored a game-high 26 points, connecting on 9 of 10 field goals, including four of four 3-pointers in the win. The Fighting Scots overcame a 10-point halftime deficit, using a 36-12 second-half run en route to the triumph. Junior guard Henri Wade-Chatman added 20 markers, while redshirt freshman Jaymon Mason tallied 12 points for Edinboro.

• The Fighting Scots return Wade-Chatman this season, who ranked second on the team in scoring in 2013-14, hitting at 13.8 points per game. The Pittsburgh, Pa. native averaged 3.4 assists per contest, good for seventh in the conference. He finished seventh in the PSAC with a 1.9 assist-to-turnover ratio.

• Edinboro also returns forward Sam Sealy-James and guards Will Marrow and Jeremy Lynch. Sealy-James, a St. John's transfer, ranked ninth in the conference with 1.2 blocks per game in his first season with Edinboro in 2013-14. Marrow averaged 3.9 points per game as a redshirt sophomore last season, while Lynch appeared in five contests and made 2 of 6 field goal attempts.

• Edinboro features many newcomers in 2014-15, including senior Urbana transfer Casey Baker. A local product, the former Conneaut Valley standout played three seasons for the Blue Knights, as the 6'4'' forward finished second on the team in scoring at 11.7 points per night and ranking third in the Mountain East Conference in rebounding at 9.0 boards per game last season. Jaymon Mason, who had a prolific career at nearby General McLane High School and is the son of Edinboro all-time leading scorer Tyrone Mason, will make his Fighting Scot debut this season after redshirting in 2013-14.

• The Fighting Scots need to replace a very valuable frontcourt piece in two-time All-PSAC First Team selection Bryan Theriot. The 6'9'' center capped an outstanding career with the Fighting Scots in 2013-14, pacing Edinboro at 17.5 points and 8.1 rebounds per game, finishing 10th on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,362 career points and 14th in career rebounds with 677 boards.
