EDINBORO, Pa. (December 18, 2014) – The Edinboro men's basketball team will look for its third consecutive win on Saturday afternoon when the Fighting Scots travel to Shippensburg. Game time against the Raiders is slated for 3 p.m. at Heiges Field House in Shippensburg, Pa. Edinboro enters the contest with a 5-4 overall record and a 2-3 mark in PSAC West play, while Shippensburg owns 5-4 and 1-4 ledgers, respectively.

Jaymon Mason tallied a career-high 25 markers as Edinboro earned an 88-76 victory over visiting Millersville in a PSAC Crossover contest on Wednesday night at McComb Fieldhouse. Edinboro shot a sizzling 61.5 percent (8 of 13) from behind the arc in the first half to jump out to a 44-28 advantage at halftime. The Fighting Scots build their lead to as many as 23 points at 59-36 at the 13:22 mark of the second half after a Mason layup. Millersville, who connected on 14 of 15 free throws in the second half, pulled within nine points at 74-65 with three minutes to play after Sam Light knocked down three free throws. The Fighting Scots then responded with five straight points, including a trio of free throws from Wade-Chatman to give Edinboro a14-point lead at 79-65 with 2:19 to play. The Marauders would once again cut the deficit to nine points at 83-74 with 1:06 to play, but the Fighting Scots sank 5 of 6 shots from the charity stripe, including 2 of 2 from both Mason and
Jeremy Lynch in the final minute of the game to seal the 88-76 conference triumph. Wade-Chatman connected on 9 of 16 field goals in the game, including 5 of 7 tries from behind the arc. Mason, who surpassed his previous career-high of 23 points which came against California (Pa.) earlier this season, made 8 of 13 field goals on the night, 2 of 4 3-pointers and was a perfect 7 of 7 from the charity stripe.
Tommy Scales added 10 rebounds and tied a game-high with six rebounds, while
Casey Baker also grabbed six boards.
12/17/14 – Slippery Rock 80, Shippensburg 62 | BOX SCORE | Shippensburg shot 61 percent from the field in the first half Wednesday night but was held without a field goal in the final eight minutes, as host Slippery Rock handed the Raiders an 80-62 defeat. Shippensburg (5-4, 1-4 PSAC) battled Slippery Rock (8-2, 4-1) from the outset, leading for the majority of the first half and trailing by just two points at halftime. The Raiders used a 10-0 run early in the second half to lead by four points, 49-45 with 15:35 to play, before The Rock countered with a 15-2 run to stretch their lead to nine points with 9:17 remaining. A field goal with exactly eight minutes left on the clock got SU within four points of the lead, 62-58, but Slippery Rock closed the game on an 18-4 run and the only Raider points the rest of the way came on free throws. Dylan Edgar posted his fifth double-double of the season, leading all scorers with 21 points (10-of-18 shooting) in addition to 10 rebounds. Justin McCarthur added 16 points, including a pair of three-pointers, while Sam Pygatt had a season-high nine points that included a 5-of-6 effort at the free-throw line.
The Edinboro-Shippensburg SeriesEdinboro leads 37-13: The Fighting Scots own a 37-13 advantage in the teams' all-time series dating back to the 1987-88 campaign. Edinboro has claimed victories in six of the last eight meetings between the teams, including each of the last two games. The Fighting Scots defeated Shippensburg by a score of 84-81 last season after topping the Raiders 82-74 during the 2012-13 season.
The Last Meeting1/8/14 – Edinboro 84, Shippensburg 81 | BOX SCORE | Xavier Churnac secured the rebound after Joe Lococo missed a potential game-tying three-pointer on the final possession of the game to give Edinboro an 84-81 win over visiting Shippensburg.
Jonny Marsh made a pair of free throws to extend the Fighting Scot lead to 82-78 with 18 seconds remaining. Lococo then made all three free throw attempts after he was fouled shooting a three-pointer by
Will Marrow, bringing Shippensburg within one at 82-81 with 12 seconds left. Churnac then connected on two shots from the stripe with eight seconds remaining to ultimately seal the win for the Scots. Lococo tried a three-point shot from the left wing, but it was off the mark as Churnac grabbed the rebound as time expired. Trailing 78-70 with 1:11 to play, the Raiders constructed an 11-6 run to end the game, but could not overcome the late deficit. Churnac scored 8 of his 10 points in the final 2:28 of the game. Three other Fighting Scots reached double-figure points led by
Bryan Theriot's fourth double-double of the season. The senior posted 25 points and a game-high 10 boards.
Jonny Marsh added 19 points to go along with a season-high eight assists.
Johnathan Logan followed with 12 points on three of four shooting from behind the arc. Massaley led all scorers with a career-high 27 points on 9 of 16 shooting for the Raiders. Jay Hardy added a career-high of 21 markers, while Lococo had 17 points on the night.

The 6'2'' guard ranks second in the PSAC in scoring at 19.3 points per game. Wade-Chatman has scored in double-figures in all nine of the Fighting Scots contests this season, including four games of 20 points or more. Additionally, he has scored at least 10 points in 20 of 22 contests dating back to last season. The 6-10 forward/center paces the PSAC in rebounding while ranking fifth in the conference in scoring. He is also second in the league in field goal percentage, shooting 67.0 percent from the field on the season. Edgar has posted five double-doubles this season, including a 23-point, 14-rebound effort in the Raiders' win over Wilmington (Del.). He sat out last season with an injury after being named to the All-PSAC Second Team as a junior in 2012-13, when Edgar averaged 13.5 points and 7.4 boards per contest.
