Ernest James celebrating their final appearances at McComb Fieldhouse with wins. While winning for the 11th time in 12 matches 13th-ranked Edinboro finished with a record of 11-3. The Mountaineers fell to 11-7.

Kory Mines a 6-4 defeat at 125 lbs. on the strength of a five-point move with a reversal and three near fall points midway through the third period. Mines, ranked 17th by InterMat and 18th by TheOpenMat.com, fell to 20-8 while Stainbrook improved to 23-13.
Schopp then took the mat and would become the 26th Edinboro wrestler to reach the century mark in victories. The second-ranked junior did so in impressive fashion, picking up his 50th career fall at 4:36 over Nathan Pennesi (16-9) at 133 lbs. Following a scoreless first period, Schopp chose the top to begin the second. Off a stalemate he worked Pennesi into a cradle to improve to 28-1 on the season and 100-12 for his career. It was his team-leading 13th fall.
The feature match of the night occurred at 141 lbs. Top-ranked
Mitchell Port staved off an upset attempt by 13th-ranked Colin Johnston, prevailing 5-3. Port led 2-1 after one period thanks to a takedown just 12 seconds into the match. The only scoring in the second period was a quick Port escape for a 3-1 advantage. Johnston started the third in the neutral position and tied the match with a takedown with 1:05 to go. Port quickly escaped and had a 1:41 advantage in riding time. Port remains undefeated at 24-0 and picked up his 88th career win. Johnston dropped to 27-6.
The lead grew to 12-3 with another tight match at 149 lbs.
Dave Habat, ranked 15th by InterMat and 18th by TheOpenMat.com, needed a sudden victory period to defeat Mike Morales, 7-5. Morales came in ranked 20th by TheOpenMat.com. After a scoreless first period, the two exchanged takedowns and escapes for a 3-3 tie going to the third. A quick escape by Habat made it 4-3, but Morales countered with a takedown with just under a minute to go. He would escape less than ten seconds later and they headed into overtime tied at 5-5. Habit secured the winning takedown with double leg shot with 15 seconds remaining. Habit is now 24-4 and now has 90 career wins.
Greisheimer, ranked 15th, wrestled for the final time at McComb and posted an impressive 6-0 decision over Tim Wheeling at 157 lbs. While improving to 22-8 and 91-59 for his career, the senior recorded a pair of takedowns, one each in the first and second periods.
Kasey Burnett-Davis made it five straight wins for the Scots as he claimed an 11-6 decision over Ross Renzi (20-15) at 165 lbs., giving Edinboro an 18-3 lead. Burnett-davis registered four takedowns in all while improving to 17-9.
Patrick Jennings (9-12) nearly pulled off an upset at 174 lbs. before falling to Bubba Scheffel (29-7) 3-1. The lone takedown came with a minute left in the first period. They would exchange escape in the second and third periods. Jennings nearly recorded the tying takedown off a scramble in the closing seconds but time ran out.
Vic Avery, ranked 13th by TheOpenMat.com and 15th by InterMat, used a big third period to run away from Mac Mancuso (21-12) 16-7 at 184 lbs. All told he had seven takedowns while boosting his record to 20-4, the seventh Fighting Scot in the lineup with 20 wins. He led 7-2 heading into the third period, then took Mancuso down four more times in the final period.
Vince Pickett, who sat out last night's match at Kent State, returned to the lineup and made it back-to-back major decisions with an 8-0 win over Leo Trindade (15-14). Pickett had a takedown just ten seconds into the match and then picked up two back points at the buzzer. He added a second period takedown and received a stalling point in the third. The sophomore had over four minutes in riding time while moving to 18-10.
James ended the evening with another shutout, as the big senior won one last time at McComb to improve to 24-5 and 95-47 for his career. All of the scoring took place in the third period in the 7-0 decision over A.J. Vizcarrondo (18-17). He opened with an escape, added to points for a takedown, and then tilted the Mountaineer for three near fall points at the buzzer.
Edinboro will now prepare for the EWL Championships, set for Saturday, March 8 at Cleveland State.
