(March 15, 2014) - The Edinboro softball team lost three games by a combined four runs on Saturday in the Salem Tournament at the Botetourt Sports Complex in Troutville, VA. The Fighting Scots fell to Concord 8-7 in the first game and 4-3 to Ohio Valley in eight innings in the second game, before dropping the final game of the day to Davis & Elkins by a score of 6-4. Edinboro moves to 1-6 on the season, while Concord improved to 12-5, Ohio Valley boosted its record to 2-4 and Davis & Elkins earned its first win of the season (1-13).
In the first game,
provided five strong relief innings in her first career appearance in the circle, allowing no runs and one hit, with four strikeouts and a walk.
Alanna Jones collected the complete game victory for the Senators, allowing four runs (one earned) on 11 hits with four strikeouts and a walk.
Cosgrove (2 for 3), Callaghan (2 for 3) and
Courtney Korpus (2 for 3) paced the Edinboro offense with two hits apiece.
The Fighting Scots return to action tomorrow, Sunday March 16 against West Virginia State at 11 a.m. in Salem, VA.
