EDINBORO, Pa. (April 1, 2014) – The Edinboro women's tennis team posted a dominant 9-0 victory over visiting Clarion on Tuesday afternoon in Edinboro. The Fighting Scots even their record at 9-9 on the season with the win, while the Golden Eagles dropped to 3-11.
The Fighting Scots swept doubles competition with victories from
Oranza Carrillo and
Raquel Holiday,
RyAnne' Baldwin and
Julia Hellstern, and the duo of
Megan Cowling and
Lydia Browne.
Carrillo boosted her record to 18-5 in singles play with a 6-0, 6-2 win at no. 1 singles, while Hellstern improved to 9-1 this spring with a 6-4, 6-1 victory at the no. 2 position.
Baldwin and Holiday won by retirement at the no. 3 and no. 4 singles positions, respectively, while Kulina and Cowling picked up identical 6-0, 6-1 triumphs in singles competition.
Edinboro returns to action on Sunday, April 6, when the Fighting Scots host Fairmont State at 12 noon at Sox Harrison Stadium.
