EDINBORO, Pa. (April 13, 2014) – The Edinboro women's tennis team nearly defeated Davis & Elkins on Sunday afternoon losing 5-4. The Fighting Scots received win from
Oranza Carrillo and
Julia Hellstern in the top two singles positions but it was not enough. Edinboro falls to 10-12 on the season while Davis & Elkins improves to 15-4.
Carrillo was able to defeat Julia Hoehn 6-4, 6-4 in the top singles match. Hellstern followed suit with a 6-4, 6-1 victory against Halima Michael.
Nevena Kulina was the only other Scot to win a singles match. The freshman from Bosnia won versus Rhiana Bruce-Lyle 6-1, 6-3.
Hellstern paired with
RyAnne' Baldwin for Edinboro's only doubles victory. The two were victorious against Jala Hamada and Halima Michael 9-7.
Edinboro plays its last regular season game on the road against Daemen College. That match is scheduled for tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. in Amherst, New York.
