Box Score (New/Sortable Format) 2 ERIE, Pa. (April 18, 2014) – The Edinboro softball team earned a pair of PSAC West victories against host Mercyhurst on Friday afternoon in Erie, PA. The Fighting Scots collected a 4-3 comeback win in the first game, before using 12 hits en route to an 8-2 triumph in the nightcap. Edinboro evens its record at 9-9 in the PSAC West and improves to 14-16 overall, while the Lakers fall to 12-22 on the season and 6-12 in the conference.
With Friday's wins, the Fighting Scots are tied for third place in the PSAC West standings with Slippery Rock. Four teams from both the PSAC Eastern and Western Divisions qualify for the PSAC Championships. The game also marked the first meeting between Edinboro head coach
cracked a two-run homerun to extend the Fighting Scot lead to 5-0 after four innings. The four-bagger marked Wreh-Wilson's second of the season, as well.
Mercyhurst cut the Edinboro lead to 5-2 with a run in both the fifth and sixth innings, but Edinboro would add three more late insurance runs to take an 8-2 lead in the top of the seventh. Struebing delivered an RBI single, Proctor reached on an error, and Mason produced yet another RBI base knock for the day to give the Fighting Scots a six-run advantage.

Kalet Lenart capped a complete game victory for the Fighting Scots by retiring the next three Mercyhurst hitters in order.
Lenart (8-6) tossed all seven innings and allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits. She fanned four batters and walked one.
Alexandra Puckly was tagged with the loss for the Lakers, allowing five runs on six hits, while striking out three and walking none.
Mason finished the game 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI. Struebing chipped in a 2-for-4 performance with one RBI, while Proctor went 1-for-3 with three RBI for Edinboro.
Heather Tighe also went 2-for-4 at the plate for the Fighting Scots.
Edinboro returns home tomorrow, April 19 for a PSAC West showdown with nationally-ranked California (Pa.). The first-place Vulcans enter the game ranked 22nd in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25, and first in the Atlantic Region. The first game of the twinbill is slated to begin at 1 p.m. in Edinboro.
