EDINBORO, Pa. (April 9, 2014) – The Edinboro women's tennis team fell to PSAC foe and nationally-ranked Indiana (Pa.) on Wednesday afternoon by a score of 9-0 in Edinboro. The Crimson Hawks sit at 44th in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Rankings, and second in the latest ITA Atlantic Regional Rankings. The Fighting Scots move to 9-10 on the season and 1-3 in PSAC play, while IUP improves to 13-7 and 5-1 in the conference.
Julia Hellstern dropped a close match in three sets to IUP's Sophie Butland at no. 2 singles by scores of 1-6, 6-3, and 10-7. The contest marked just Hellstern's second loss in singles competition on the year. Butland came into the match ranked 13th in the ITA Atlantic Region.
Edinboro returns to action tomorrow, April 10 taking on Mercyhurst at 2 p.m. at Penn State-Behrend. The match against the Lakers was originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 8 in Edinboro, but was rescheduled for tomorrow due to poor weather conditions.
