EDINBORO, Pa. (September 17, 2014) – The Edinboro women's tennis team opened the 2014 season with a 7-2 victory over visiting Alderson Broaddus on Wednesday afternoon in Edinboro, Pa. The Fighting Scots improved to 1-0, while the Battlers drop to 0-1.

Julia Hellstern opened the match with an 8-1 triumph at No. 1 singles, before
Katie Allan and
Raquel Holiday earned a 9-8 win at No. 2 doubles to give Edinboro a 2-0 lead.
Alderson Broaddus' lone wins came by way of forfeit at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles.
In singles competition, Carrillo, Hellstern, Allan and Holiday each collected victories, while
Lydia Browne also earned a win at No. 5 singles by a score of 6-1, 6-1.
The Fighting Scots return to action this Saturday, September 20 at the United States Tennis Association/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Atlantic Regional Championships at the Pennbriar Athletic Club in Erie, Pa.
