Alex Brown Scores Twice as Scots Tie Mercyhurst 2-2

Box Score (New/Sortable Format) ERIE, Pa. (Sept. 6, 2014) -- Alex Brown scored her second goal of the game with just over ten minutes remaining in regulation to help Edinboro post a 2-2 tie in two overtimes at Mercyhurst on Saturday afternoon. The tie leaves the Fighting Scots at 0-1-1 overall and in PSAC play, while Mercyhurst is now 1-0-1 in both.

Brown took a rebound off a missed shot and beat Mercyhurst goalkeeper Ellie McDougall to the upper right corner of the net to tie the match at 79:55. The two teams would battle for the next thirty minutes – ten minutes of regulation and two ten-minute overtime periods – without a score.

Brown, a sophomore, opened the scoring with a goal at the 17 minute mark off a corner kick from Allyson Overly.

Mercyhurst would score the next two goals to take a 2-1 lead. The Lakers knotted the score thanks to Kristina Roberti off an assist from Fawn Mulholland at 22:25. They would take a 2-1 lead before the half on Janine Wong's second goal of the season, a blast from 25 yards out off the hands of Meghan Kelly at 37:35.

The second half was all Edinboro, as the Fighting Scots held a 9-0 advantage in shots, but could only muster Brown's second goal. Edinboro held an 18-9 advantage in shots for the game, with Mercyhurst taking four shots and Edinboro three in overtime.

Kelly was credited with four saves while McDougall had nine.
