EDINBORO, Pa. (October 1, 2015) – The Edinboro University women's soccer team, fresh off a 5-0 PSAC win against Pitt-Johnstown on Tuesday, hits the road on Saturday, October 3 for a PSAC match at West Chester at 12:00 p.m.
The match is an important one for Edinboro. The Fighting Scots are fourth in the PSAC with a 6-3-0 overall record and a 5-2-0 PSAC record. The Golden Rams are second with a 7-2-0 overall and PSAC record. Edinboro is ranked sixth in the Atlantic Region in the latest poll from the NSCAA, while West Chester is ranked fourth.
Freshman midfielder
Chloe Work scored two goals along with an assist in Edinboro's win over Pitt-Johnstown.
Jansen Hartmann,
Alex Root and
Alex Brown also scored goals for the Fighting Scots.
Hartmann is the Fighting Scots' leading scorer with 19 points on eight goals and three assists. She is ranked ninth all-time in Edinboro scoring in career points (61), eighth in career goals (22) and fourth in career assists (17).
Ashley Mutkus and Work are tied for second with nine points.
Goalkeepers
Sarah Baskey and
Sierra Davis have shared time in the net. Baskey has a 4-1-0 record, a .643 save percentage and three shutouts, while Davis has a 2-2-0 record, a .400 save percentage and one shutout. They have allowed a combined eleven goals.
West Chester, who advanced as far as the NCAA quarterfinals in 2014, has won its last three matches, including a 4-1 win over Millersville on Tuesday. The Golden Rams' only two losses came against undefeated 4th-ranked Gannon, 2-1, and California (Pa.), 1-0.
Kara Parvel leads the Golden Rams in scoring with 10 points on four goals and two assists. Scarlett Walsh is second with seven points on two goals and three assists. Goalkeeper Alex Srolis has a .839 save percentage. She has allowed five goals and has five shutouts.
West Chester has defeated Edinboro in each of their last four matches. They defeated the Fighting Scots last year, 1-0. Carly Yost scored the lone goal in the 67th minute.
