Halle Hammer's two goals helped push the Edinboro University women's soccer team to a PSAC road win over West Chester, 2-1, on a rainy Saturday. The Fighting Scots improve to 7-3-0 overall and 6-2-0 in the PSAC, while the Golden Rams fell to 7-3-0 overall and in the PSAC.
This marks the first time since 2011 that Edinboro has defeated West Chester. Edinboro is ranked sixth in the Atlantic Region in the NSCAA's newest poll. West Chester is ranked fourth.
The Fighting Scots and Golden Rams wasted no time heading for the net. Both teams combined for six shots in the first 15 minutes with one shot on goal for each team.
Edinboro drew first blood with Hammer netting her fourth goal of the year in the 18th minute to put the Fighting Scots up, 1-0. Hammer scored again in the 33rd minute off a pass from
Ashley Mutkus to extend Edinboro's lead by two goals heading into halftime.
The second half was a quiet one, until West Chester responded with an 85th-minute goal by Shannon Hoeveler to cut Edinboro's lead in half. But that would conclude the scoring as the Fighting Scots prevailed over the Golden Rams, 2-1.
Edinboro outshot West Chester, 14-9, with eight shots on goal. Hammer's two goals gives her 10 points on five goals for the season, moving her up to second on the team in scoring, behind senior forward
Jansen Hartmann, who has 19 points on eight goals and three assists.

The Fighting Scots continue their PSAC season on Wednesday, October 7 against Mercyhurst at 6:00 p.m. at Sox Harrison Stadium.
