EDINBORO, Pa. (October 5, 2015) – The Edinboro University women's soccer team will hold its "Fighting Scots Fighting Cancer" Night on Wednesday, October 7, facing PSAC foe Mercyhurst at 6:00 p.m. at Sox Harrison Stadium.
Edinboro enters Wednesday on a two-game winning streak, with wins against PSAC opponents West Chester and Pitt-Johnstown. The Fighting Scots have a 7-3-0 overall record and a 6-2-0 PSAC record. The Lakers are 5-3-2 overall and 4-3-2 in the PSAC. Edinboro is ranked 25th nationally and third in the Atlantic Region in the latest NSCAA poll.
Freshman midfielder
Halle Hammer scored both goals in Edinboro's 2-1 win over West Chester on Saturday, their first win against the Golden Rams since 2011. Hammer is second in team scoring with 10 points on five goals, behind senior forward
Jansen Hartmann.
Hartmann leads the Fighting Scots with 19 points on eight goals and three assists. She is ranked ninth all-time in Edinboro scoring in career points (61), eighth in career goals (22) and fourth in career assists (17).
Goalkeepers
Sarah Baskey and
Sierra Davis have shared time in goal. Baskey has a 5-1-0 record and three shutouts, while Davis has a 2-2-0 record and one shutout. They have allowed a combined 12 goals.
Mercyhurst has won its last three matches, including a 6-1 win over Pitt-Johnstown on Saturday. The Lakers' three losses came against Lock Haven, West Chester and Slippery Rock.
Kristina Roberti leads the Lakers in scoring with 16 points on seven goals and two assists. Lauren Testa is second with 12 points on four goals and four assists. Goalkeeper Kristen Koch has seen the majority of time in goal. She has a 2-2-2 record, eight goals allowed and one shutout.
Mercyhurst and Edinboro played to a 2-2 draw last year.
Alex Brown scored both goals for the Fighting Scots, while Janine Wong and Roberti each had a goal for the Lakers.
Edinboro begins a two-game PSAC road trip following Wednesday. The Fighting Scots play at Bloomsburg on Saturday, October 10 at 12:00 p.m. and then at undefeated, first-ranked Gannon on Tuesday, October 13 at 6:30 p.m.
