YPSILANTI, Mich. (November 7, 2015) – The Edinboro University wrestling team opened up the 2015 campaign today, participating in the EMU Duals hosted by Eastern Michigan. The #24 Fighting Scots wrestled three matches, defeating Olivet (46-3), losing to #22 Ohio (22-12), and defeating Northern Illinois (19-12). The Northern Illinois victory marked the 200th career win for head coach Tim Flynn. Flynn is in his 19th season and now has a 200-73-5 record.

Four Fighting Scots won all three of their matches today. The list includes senior Casey Fuller (165 lbs.), redshirt freshmen Sean Russell (125 lbs.) and Billy Miller (hwt.), and true freshman Patricio Lugo (149).


EDINBORO 46, OLIVET 3 – The Fighting Scots posted five falls along with a technical fall and two major decisions to hand Tim Flynn his 199^th career victory. Redshirt freshmen Sean Russell (125 lbs.) and Billy Miller (hwt.) bracketed the win with falls in their first collegiate bouts that count. Four true freshmen were in the lineup, with three posting wins. Patricio Lugo won by fall at 149 lbs., with Spencer Nagy claiming a major decision at 157 lbs. Tyler Vath won a decision at 141 lbs. Only three returning starters were in the lineup, with Casey Fuller (165 lbs.), Patrick Jennings (174 lbs.), and Vince Pickett (197 lbs.) all posting victories.

OHIO 22, EDINBORO 12 – Edinboro tasted defeat for the first time as the Bobcats won six of the ten bouts, with three by bonus points. Sean Russell got the Fighting Scots off to a 3-0 lead with a 7-5 decision over Shakur Laney at 125 lbs. OU won the next two matches before freshman Patricio Lugo won a 9-4 decision over Matthew Lopez at 149 lbs. Casey Fuller added a 3-2 decision over Austin Reese at 165 lbs.  Billy Miller wrapped up the match with a 1-0 win at heavyweight over Jesse Webb.

EDINBORO 19, NORTHERN ILLINOIS 12 – Coach Timm Flynn earned his 200 career victory as the Fighting Scots won six of the ten bouts to close out the day of wrestling. Sean Russell got the Fighting Scots started with his third win of the day, an 8-3 decision over Alijah Jeffery at 125 lbs. Northern Illinois won the next two matches before freshman Patricio Lugo won a 8-4 decision over Gabe Morse at 149 lbs. Spencer Nagy won a 4-0 decision over Austin Colton at 157 lbs. and Casey Fuller won a majority decision 9-0 over Andrew Scott at 165 lbs. Patrick Jennings won a 8-5 decision over Trace Engelkes and Billy Miller closed out the afternoon with a 8-3 decision over Arthur Bunce.
