FAIRMONT, W. Va. (March 29, 2015) – The Edinboro women's tennis team earned a 7-2 victory over Atlantic Regional foe West Virginia Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon in Fairmont, W. Va. The Fighting Scots, ranked eighth in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association Atlantic Regional Rankings, improved to 5-6 on the season with the win, while the Bobcats dropped to 5-7.
Edinboro swept doubles competition, as the duos of
Oranza Carrillo and Katie Allen, Ryanne' Baldwin and
Marija Tmusic as well as
Julia Hellstern and
Lydia Browne were victorious by a combined score of 24-8.
Carrillo picked up a 6-1, 6-2 triumph at No. 2 singles, while Baldwin bested her opponent 6-4, 2-6, 10-1 at the fourth singles slot.
Allan earned a 6-0, 6-2 win at the No. 5 singles position and
Nevena Kulina also collected a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 6 singles.
The Fighting Scots return to action on Wednesday, April 1 hosting 12th-ranked California (Pa.) at 3 p.m. in Edinboro.
