CLARION, Pa. (April 15, 2015) – The Edinboro women's tennis team earned an 8-1 victory over host Clarion on Wednesday afternoon in a PSAC Western Division contest in Clarion, Pa. The Fighting Scots picked up their first conference triumph of the season, improving to 7-10 overall and 1-4 in PSAC action. The Golden Eagles fell to 8-9 on the season and 0-6 in the conference.
Julia Hellstern and
Lydia Browne earned their fifth straight win in doubles competition with an 8-2 win at the No. 3 slot, while
Oranza Carrillo and
Katie Allan collected an 8-3 victory at No. 1 doubles.
The Fighting Scots swept singles play in the match, as Carrillo,
RyAnne' Baldwin and Allan each won their third singles wins in a row. Carrillo won at No. 2 singles, Baldwin was victorious at the No. 4 slot and Allan at the No. 5 position.
Hellstern and Browne both won by straight sets at No. 1 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
Marija Tmusic also earned a victory at third singles.
Edinboro is back in action tomorrow travelling to Indiana (Pa.). The match is set to begin at 4 p.m.
