Edinboro Women Second in PSAC Preseason Cross Country Polls

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (August 28, 2015) – The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference released its PSAC Coaches Preseason Cross Country polls today. Edinboro is highly-ranked in women's polls. The Edinboro women are ranked second out of 18 teams.

Bloomsburg was selected as the preseason favorite on the women's side, with Shippensburg third. East Stroudsburg is fourth and Slippery Rock rounds out the top five.

Head coach Rick Hammer guided the 2014 women's cross country team to PSAC and Atlantic Regional championships. It marked the first conference title since 2006 and the second straight regional crown. While the women's harriers suffered some tough losses to graduation, including All-American and PSAC Athlete of the Year Kasey Jones, the Fighting Scots return a pair of All-PSAC and All-Region performers in Emma Sullivan and Anna Hösl . Sullivan, a junior, came in 14th at the PSAC Championships and moved up to third at the Atlantic Regional. Hösl, a senior who joined the Fighting Scots a year ago, was eighth at the PSAC's and 13th at the regionals.

In addition, the Fighting Scots return regulars Bekkah Bond and Kaitlin Daubert.

Edinboro will debut in 2015 on Saturday, September 5, hosting the Doug Watts Distance Gala.
