Box Score (New/Sortable Format) EDINBORO, Pa. (September 12, 2015) – After defeating Shippensburg 1-0 the day before, the 16
th-ranked Edinboro University women's soccer team dropped a home match to the Millersville Marauders, 1-0 on a rainy Saturday night at Sox Harrison Stadium. The Fighting Scots move to 3-1-0 overall and 2-1-0 in PSAC play, while the Marauders improve to 2-2-0 overall and in the PSAC.
Much like Edinboro's match on Friday, both teams played to a scoreless tie going into halftime. In the 62
nd minute, Millersville's Halie Parker drilled a shot from the far left wing past goalie
Sierra Davis into the top right corner of the net to give the Marauders the lead and, ultimately, the win.
After the goal, Edinboro made several attempts to rally.
Jansen Hartmann,
Abby Gillespie and
Ashley Mutkus all took shots at the net, but were unable to get the ball past Millersville goalie Samantha Wolfe, who tallied eight saves for her second win this season.
Davis, a transfer from Cleveland State, moves to 1-1-0 on the year in goal for Edinbro.
Despite the outcome, the Fighting Scots actually out-shot the Marauders in this game 18-5. Hartmann and Gillespie led Edinboro in shots with four, while
Halle Hammer was right behind them with three.
The Fighting Scots will be back in action on Tuesday when they travel to face the Griffins of Seton Hill in a PSAC matchup at 4:00 p.m.
