Box Score (New/Sortable Format) ROCHESTER, NY (September 19, 2015) – Despite rallying from three goals down in the second half, the 23rd-ranked Edinboro University women's soccer team fell to Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday in a non-conference road match, 4-3. The Fighting Scots are now 4-2-0 while the Redhawks improved to 3-1-1 overall.
With
Sarah Baskey starting in goal for Edinboro, Roberts Wesleyan took command in the first half. Brittany Houghton got the Redhawks on the board with a goal in the 16th-minute on an assist by Bella Mitrevski. In the 40th minute, Orla Martin followed with another goal, assisted again by Mitrevski, to put Roberts Wesleyan ahead at halftime, 2-0.
The second half began with Mitrevski adding a goal in the 49th minute to put the Redhawks up, 3-0. The Fighting Scots answered in the 56th minute on a goal by
Jansen Hartmann, her fifth of the season. With six minutes to play, Hartmann collected another goal to pull Edinboro within one at 3-2.
One minute later,
Chloe Work netted her second goal of the year for the Fighting Scots to tie the match at 3-3. The resurgence would be short-lived, however, as Mitrevski cruised down the left wing 19 seconds later to bury the game-winning goal for a 4-3 Redhawks victory.
The Fighting Scots outshot the Redhawks, 16-10, with 11 shots on goal. Hartmann's two goals gives her 14 points on the season on six goals and two assists. Baskey registered a pair of saves.
The Fighting Scots get back to PSAC competition on Wednesday, September 23, playing at California (Pa.) at 5:00 p.m.
