EDINBORO, Pa. (September 21, 2015) – After a non-conference loss to Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday, the Edinboro women's soccer team returns to PSAC play on Wednesday, September 23 at California (Pa.) at 5:00 p.m.
The match is one of great importance for both teams. The Fighting Scots are fifth in the PSAC with a 4-2-0 overall record and a 3-1-0 PSAC record, while the Vulcans are second with a 4-1-1 overall and PSAC record. The latest poll from the NSCAA has California (Pa.) and Edinboro ranked third and fourth in the Atlantic Region, respectively. California (Pa.) is ranked 24th in the NCAA Division II national poll, while Edinboro is among others receiving votes.

Jansen Hartmann netted two goals while freshman midfielder
Chloe Work scored the equalizer. But a late goal from the Redhawks in the 86th minute handed the Fighting Scots a 4-3 defeat.
Hartmann is the Fighting Scots' leading scorer with 14 points on six goals and two assists.
Ashley Mutkus, a sophomore forward, is number two with nine points on three goals and three assists. Goalies
Sarah Baskey and
Sierra Davis have allowed a combined nine goals with two shutouts.
California (Pa.) advanced as far as the second round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament. The Vulcans went unbeaten in their first four games this year before suffering a 2-1 loss to Slippery Rock. They defeated West Chester on Saturday, 1-0. All of the Vulcans' matches have been decided by one goal.
Kara Novotny leads the Vulcans in scoring with six points on three goals. Selena Fushimi-Karns is second with four points on two goals. Goalie Meghan Jayes has allowed four goals with 25 saves and three shutouts.
The Fighting Scots and Vulcans played to a 1-1 draw last year. Hartmann scored to put Edinboro ahead in the first half, then Janelle McCann scored for California (Pa.) early in the second half to tie it.
Following Wednesday's match, the Fighting Scots return to Sox Harrison Stadium to take on PSAC opponent Lock Haven on Saturday, September 26 at 5:00 p.m.
