MEADVILLE, Pa. (September 5, 2015) - The Edinboro women's tennis team earned their first pair of victories of the 2015 fall season Saturday at the Nancy and Harvey Heath Gator Invitational, hosted by Allegheny College, defeating Grove City and Allegheny each by the score of 8-1.

In the singles competition against Grove City, Edinboro took five out of six. Freshman Tatiana Batalla breezed past Grove City's Kelley Parks with scores of 6-0 and 6-1 while fellow Edinboro freshman Marija Tmusic took her match against Julie Becker by scores of 6-1 and 6-0. Junior Anastasiya Dasik was also successful in her match, downing Leah Thomsen 6-2 and 6-4.

Edinboro handily took all three doubles matches against Grove City, with freshman Laura Lopez and Dasik winning their match 8-1, Tmusic and sophomore Roxana Yeh coming through 8-3, and sophomore Julia Hellstern and senior Lydia Browne sweeping theirs 8-0.

Against Allegheny in singles, the Fighting Scots swept the Gators in all six matches. Lopez handled her match well with 6-3 and 6-2 scores and Hellstern won her first singles match of the year handily 6-0 and 6-1.

Lopez and Dasik teamed up to win their doubles match 8-2 and the Edinboro duo of juniors Sydney Rice and Nevena Kulina treated themselves to an 8-1 victory. Tmusic and Yeh narrowly lost their match by a score of 7-9.

The women will be back on the courts Saturday, September 12 at the PSAC Singles and Doubles Championship, hosted by Bloomsburg University.
