EDINBORO, Pa. (October 14, 2016) – After weeks of regional and conference tournaments, the Edinboro University women's tennis team finally began its dual match season Friday night with a 9-0 win over Shippensburg. The Fighting Scots began the year at 1-0, while the Raiders dropped to 0-3.
 
Edinboro swept all the singles and double matches, and did not allow Shippensburg to gain more than one point in any set. Roxana Yeh and Laura Lopez and Julia Hellstern and Tatiana Batalla each posted 8-1 doubles wins, while the tandem of Anastasiya Dasik and Jelena Vucenovic blanked Victoria Galanti and Hannah Coath, 8-0, in number three doubles.
 
Lopez, Batalla and Dasik then followed up with a pair of 6-0 wins in the second, fourth and fifth singles spot, respectively. Hellstern defeated Catherine Miller, 6-0 and 6-1 in the number-one slot, while Yeh and Vucenovic won in the third and sixth spot, respectively, by 6-1 and 6-0 scores.
