Victor Hudson Named to 2016 AP Little All-America Team

KUTZTOWN, Pa. (December 16, 2016) – Edinboro University's Victor Hudson (Northfield, Ohio/Nordonia) has been named to the 2016 Associated Press Little All-America Team. The senior defensive end was named to the third team. The AP Little All-America Team includes players from NCAA Division II and III and NAIA.

Hudson is the first Fighting Scot to land a spot on the AP Little All-America Team since Rob Stoner was named to the second team in 2011 as an offensive lineman. He is also one of only six players from the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference on the three teams. Jordan Morgan (OL) of Kutztown and Garry Brown (WR) of California(Pa.) were named to the first team.  Slippery Rock's Marcus Martin (DL) was selected to the second team, with Hudson joined on the third team by Lock Haven's Shawn Self (WR) and Jay Watkins (DB) of Indiana(Pa.).

Hudson played a major role in Edinboro's incredible turnaround campaign. After finishing 0-11 in 2015, and being picked to finish eighth in the PSAC West in the coaches' preseason poll, Edinboro finished with a 9-2 record in 2016.  The nine wins tied the school record for wins in a season.  In addition, the nine-game turnaround is the largest in NCAA Division II history and the second-largest among all divisions.

The 6'1", 228 lb. senior enjoyed a breakout season following a move from outside linebacker to defensive end. He finished with 67 tackles, good for fourth on the team. His specialty was plays behind the line of scrimmage. Hudson broke Dave Smith's record for tackles for loss with 24, and also led the Scots with 11.5 sacks. He was twice named the PSAC West Defensive Player of the Week. He led the team with three fumble recoveries and added an interception.

At the conclusion of the regular season, Hudson led the PSAC and ranked fourth in Division II in tackles for losses, along with ranks second in the conference and tenth in the country in sacks. He is currently tied for fourth nationally in tackles for losses and 11th in sacks. He had 5 sacks and a school-record 8.5 tackles for losses at Lock Haven while recording a career-high 12 tackles, and was named the D2Football.com defensive Player of the Week for his efforts.

Hudson was previously named to the All-PSAC West first team, and the D2CCA All-Super Region 1 second team. He was also selected recently as Edinboro's Defensive Player of the Year.
