EDINBORO, Pa. (March 2, 2016) – The Edinboro University softball team's 2016 schedule will get underway in Clermont, Florida as the team heads down for a 12-game spring trip starting on Sunday, March 6.

Dan Gierlak has assembled a competitve schedule to begin the season that includes a pair of games with Ashland, a team that appeared in the NCAA Tournament last season.
The Fighting Scots open the first day of the spring trip taking on Dowling and Pitt-Johnstown at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m., respectively. Edinboro will play a pair of games a day during the trip, receiving an off day on Wednesday, March 1.
Edinboro concludes the trip on Saturday, March 12 with a pair of games against Ashland and Southern New Hampshire.
Edinboro posted a 23-14-1 record last season and a 15-12-1 mark in PSAC play, finishing fifth in the Western Division and just one game out of the PSAC Tournament.
The Fighting Scots will return seven starters from last season, including first baseman
Haley Struebing and third baseman
Brooke Callaghan.
Struebing led Edinboro with eight home runs and 32 RBI, while ranking fourth with a .306 batting average. The senior also recorded eight doubles, a triple, and five stolen bases.
Callaghan tallied six homers, 19 RBI, four doubles, and three triples, while ranking second on the team with a .339 batting average. The redshirt junior also ranked second with 12 stolen bases.
Junior
Kalet Lenart leads a group of six returning pitchers for the Fighting Scots. Lenart logged a team-high 86.2 innings pitched, recording a 7-5 record and 72 strikeouts. She notched eight complete games and picked up one save.
