ERIE, Pa. (April 1, 2016) – The Edinboro University women's tennis team played host to Charleston on Friday, falling to the Golden Eagles by a 7-2 decision. The Fighting Scots, who were ranked tenth in the Atlantic Region by Oracle/ITA, dropped to 10-6, their fourth defeat in their last five matches. Charleston, the region's fifth-ranked team, improved to 15-4. The match took place at the Westwood Racquet Club.
 
Edinboro's pair of victories took place in the singles competition, where Laura Lopez (11-6) and Jelena Vucenovic (3-4) defeated Jackie Bakos and Taylor Youell in straight sets. In the top slot, Julia Hellstern challenged Toni Katipa, the region's 13^th-ranked singles player, to three sets. After a 7-5 win in the second set after a 6-3 loss in the first set, Hellstern fell to Katipa, 10-7, in the third set. Hellstern teamed up with Lydia Brown in the doubles competition, where they, too, challenged Ana Maria Pena and Taylor Youell, ultimately falling, 9-8, in way of a 5-0 tiebreaking decision.
 
The Fighting Scots continue their season on Saturday, hosting West Virginia Wesleyan at 4:00 p.m. at Westwood Racquet Club.
