Women’s Tennis Continues to Roll With 7-2 Win Over Walsh

ERIE, Pa. (March 22, 2017) – The Edinboro University women's tennis team kept their winning ways going on Wednesday afternoon with a 7-2 victory over Walsh at the Westwood Racquet Club. The Fighting Scots took two doubles matches and five singles to improve to 6-2 on the year. The Cavaliers fell to 6-14.

Tatiana Batalla, Laura Lopez and Roxana Yeh each posted singles and doubles wins on the day. Lopez and Yeh teamed up to defeat Sofya Logunova and Mercedes Fernanez in the top doubles spot by an 8-6 score. Lopez beat Logunova again in the top singles spot, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (5), while Yeh downed Victoria Ambrosio at number four by matching 6-2 sets. Batalla and Julia Hellstern defeated Ambrosio and Gabriela Laguna-Leon, 8-2, in the second spot, then Batalla beat Mercedes Fernanez in the third singles spot, 6-4 and 6-2.

Anastasiya Dasik and Marija Tmusic earned singles wins for the Fighting Scots in the fifth and sixth spots, respectively. Dasik won her match over Laguna-Leon by matching 6-1 scores and Tmusic posted a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Snezhana Kiseleva.

Edinboro returns to the court on Tuesday, March 28 when they host PSAC-opponent California (Pa.) at 4:00 p.m.
