BUCKHANNON, WV – The Edinboro Univeristy women's tennis team got back on the winning track, taking down West Virginia Wesleyan, 5-1, in a first to five contest to snap a two-game losing skid and improve to 8-4. With the loss, West Virginia Wesleyan fell to 9-4.
The Fighting Scots took all three doubles matches to jump out to an early 3-0 lead. The first two doubles matches were won pretty comfortably, but the duo of
Anastasiya Dasik and
Jelena Vucenovic gutted out a hard-fought, 9-7, victory over West Virginia Wesleyan's Esetel Fernandez and Mariona Junyer.
Tatiana Batalla Trabal opened up singles play with her team-high 11
th victory of the year to improve to 11-5. Batalla Trabal defeated Cecil Martinez by scores of 6-0 and 6-1.
Roxana Yeh improved to 8-3 with a match-clinching victory over Estel Fernandez by identical 6-2 scores.
The Fighting Scots return to the courts on Tuesday, April 4, hosting Slippery Rock for a 4 p.m. contest.
