Fighting Scots Clinch PSAC Tournament Berth with 9-0 Triumph at Seton Hill

GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Edinboro women's tennis team clinched a berth in next week's PSAC Women's Tennis Tournament with an impressive 9-0 win at Seton Hill on Friday afternoon. The Fighting Scots improved to 11-5 overall and 4-2 in the PSAC West while eliminating the Griffins, who ended at 2-4 in league play and 8-11 overall.

Edinboro came into the match needing a win to clinch a first-ever berth in the PSAC Tournament since the league forced teams to qualify to make the field. A loss to Seton Hill would have left the Fighting Scots tied with the Griffins and possibly California(Pa.). The last time the Edinboro women's tennis team made the PSAC Tournament was 2003, when every team participated. This will head coach Lee Underwood's first trip to the PSAC Tournament on the women's side. The men's team has won three straight PSAC titles.

The Fighting Scots left little doubt, sweeping all three doubles matches before claiming all six singles matches. The Fighting Scots officially clinched when Jelena Vucenovic won by 6-4, 6-0 at number six singles over Ana Salazar. Three of the singles matches were won in straight sets, with Seton Hill's Kaelyn Zak forced to retire holding a 3-2 lead in the first set. Edinboro won at number three and five singles in three sets.

Edinboro will enter PSAC Tournament as the third seed in the Western Division and will face second seed Indiana(Pa.) in a quarterfinal match. That contest will take place on Tuesday, April 18 at 3:30 p.m. at IUP.
